So sorry that updates on my website have been very sporadic; amongst all the business and then the break time at the end of last year, I didn’t find any motivation to make any blog posts! Here’s a quick update on tuition life in 2022 for me.

I’ve currently opened 8 slots for full-time tuition this year: 3 on Saturday, 3 on Sunday, 1 on Monday and 1 on Tuesday. At this current moment, 5 of the 8 slots have been filled, which is pretty good for me compared to the past two years! The weekday slots have always been the ones that are harder to fill until later on in the year, so I’ll have to keep them open and see if there are any takers in the months to come. I may open 1 or 2 more slots after the June holidays, but I’m also thinking of taking things easier this year and stick to 8 in total. We shall see what happens.

I’ve officially signed up as an MOE registered instructor (Math enrichment) since the end of last year, and this means I can be contracted to conduct enrichment lessons in schools for a duration of more than 8 hours. Along with this, I’m happy to conduct Math Olympiad lessons at EJC and HCIS once again! This starts in Term 2 after the March holidays, so I’m expecting to be a lot busier from March onwards. I have prepared a large amount of materials for the first round of Math Olympiad teaching last year, so this year I’ll refine and bundle together my materials for more effective use, which will be much less work compared to the year before.

I’ve been spending the end of last year making a sizable update on the FUN sections of my tuition materials, which consists of the questions I use to introduce various concepts in lessons. It’s now much closer to where I want it to be, although I have quite a lot more content produced for my front chapters compared to the back chapters. I’ll continue to work on this during the later half of this year.

The results for the A Level examinations were released a few days back, and I’m pleased to say that my previous batch of students have done really well with 75% A grades for math! 2021 was certainly a really chaotic year, with measures related to COVID coming and going throughout the year, and it’s also a fact that most of these students came to me after failing or barely passing their tests or examinations. While I’m happy for most of my students who managed to achieve a hard-fought A grade, I do feel for the few of them who didn’t manage to do as well as they wanted to. Got to remember that results do not define who you are; the A Levels is just a key to get you to unlock the next phase of your life. Hopefully everyone is able to proceed on smoothly to their university studies, and bring a problem solving mentality that they learnt from math to wherever they may go.

That’s all from me for now! I’ll probably give another update in the not-so-soon future!
