Tuition Room

Here is a look at the dedicated room where Mr Zheng’s private tuition lessons are held at.

The room comes furnished with air conditioning, a full-length whiteboard, a long table with comfortable chairs suitable for up to three students at once, along with stationery, snacks, water, and other items for a conducive learning environment for private tuition.

Lesson Activities

The advantage of one-on-one or small group private tuition, as compared to larger group tuition center lessons, is that the private tutor can effectively customize the lesson or activities involved to meet the students’ needs. Possible activities include:

  • Teaching mathematics content ahead of school for students to gain competency and confidence in the subject content.
  • Clarifying doubts that students have in the content that they have been taught in school.
  • Guiding students to learn from the mistakes made in school tests and examinations.
  • Strengthening core thinking processes through practice of routine problems.
  • Developing problem solving techniques through attempts of non-routine problems
  • Instilling proper note-taking techniques, summary writing skills, study routines and reflection processes in students for maximum effectiveness in learning.
  • Timed practices near examination period for students to familiarize themselves with the use of appropriate examination skills in order to perform at their maximum potential.

FUN Pack (Learning Materials)

Students are provided complimentary copies of FUN Packs of learning materials to assist in the tuition process as well as for their self-directed learning. Each FUN Pack includes the following content:

  • Summary notes for students to quickly grasp the key concepts of each chapter
  • Foundational Understanding (FUN) questions: guided problems designed from scratch for students to acquire the fundamental content knowledge for each chapter.
  • A Level Comprehensive Exercises (ACE): a carefully curated list of mathematical problems modified from A Level examinations for sufficient breadth and depth of exposure to routine and non-routine problems.

Please note that the FUN Packs are not sold to the public; the only way to acquire the learning materials is to attend Mr Zheng’s tuition lessons.

Homework and Mock Papers

Practice is an essential component of mastering mathematics. As such, students are expected to complete regular homework exercises on previously learnt content knowledge, consisting of original questions designed to help students recap the concepts that they have learnt. Homework exercises issued this way will be evaluated and the necessary learning points will be discussed in the following tuition lesson.

Students may also be asked to complete a few questions from the FUN Pack before the next tuition lesson to have more practice on the content that they have just learnt. These questions will also be discussed during the following tuition lesson.

Towards the examination periods, students will be given a series of original Mock Papers designed by Mr Zheng to test their mathematical abilities. These Mock Papers are carefully crafted to be challenging yet fair for the students so that they can get an accurate sense of the level of difficulty of the actual A Level examination.
